Chunky Ribbed Crochet Blanket :: Free Pattern

Hello Friends...Here's another project I've recently finished off, a lovely chunky ribbed crochet blanket:

It's a simple hdc stitch, done through the back loop (BL) to get the ribbed / knit like effect.  I used Loops' n Threads Cozy Wool and the colour is Stone, however any Super Bulky weight yarn can be substituted.

With a large 10 mm hook, this blanket works up super quick.  It's the perfect beginner friendly project! I believe it took roughly 11 skeins to complete.  See below for full pattern info. on this easy blanket:

Pattern Instructions:

Ch, 96 sts.

Row 1 - hdc into 3rd ch from hook in the back loop (BL), 94 sts. Turn.

Row 2 - Ch 2, hdc into 1st st. (last st. of the previous row) in the BL and in each stitch across. Turn.

Repeat Row 2 for 37 rows, or until desired width.

My finished blanket measures approx.: 55" x 55".  If you wish to adjust the size, simply measure your starting chain to your desired width and add 3 more chains. Work blanket to desired length.

As always, thanks for looking and your support.

Next Project

Hello Friends...Just playing around with some ideas for my next crochet project and thought I'd share.  I'm loving the chunky yarn lately.

Catching Up

Hello Friends...it's been a very busy few weeks, with the start of school, programs for the kids and our basement repair after the flood over the summer.  We are almost finished (yeah) and just need to put things back in place.  I've also managed to work on a scarf pattern using the gorgeous yarn I purchased in the summer when we visited the Purl Bee Soho.  Take a look:

Large Shell Doily

Hello friends...I came across this really pretty shell doily on Ravelry called the Gemstone Doily, by Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.  I liked that it uses worsted weight yarn, giving it that not so dainty appeal...

I used some leftover bamboo yarn from another project and made mine larger by adding a few extra rounds and the blue trim.  I had to modify the pattern slightly for the extra rounds to make it lie flat...

I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out...I plan to use on a round pedestal table that we use in the basement beside the sofa...the table top is a pretty painted blue colour, which peaks through oh so prettily.

And, here we are again on my dining room table...

Crochet Cowl

Hello Friends...

Just wanted to share with everyone this pretty cowl I made as a custom order.  I love this yarn (Red Heart, Light and Lofty), it's so soft and chunky and super quick to work with.  This cowl couldn't be easier to whip up...I simply chained enough stitches to measure appox. 26" and hdc'd my way up until it reached about 8" wide.  I then added two matching buttons for easy closure.  Honestly, total time working on this project was no more than an hour.  What do you think?  A little warm for our coming summer, but will be perfect for the fall...
