I'm also working on some pretty little flower coasters...hoping to provide a pattern for that in the future.

Crochet Cowl
Hello Friends....I hope the New Year has been treating everyone well so far! We still have the rest of the week off with the kids and my hubby is off work until the Wed., so it's been nice to just hang around, sleep in and spend time with family.
Before Christmas, I whipped up this colourful little cowl for a family member...I just love the yarn she chose. Just a simple hdc stitch in the round. It measure's about 28" length by 6" width. The yarn she picked out is Bernat Mosaic...Medusa is the colour:

First Snow
Here we are, late in the year, and we've just had our first snow. A little unusual, considering we live in Canada...more specifically, Toronto, which can have unpredictable winters. The kids are quite happy, as am I...we've had far too much rain this December, a nice change for sure!
Circle in Square Pillow
Hello Friends...
Some of you may remember awhile back I had started this pretty little pillow project: http://moderngracedesign.blogspot.com/2011/05/new-life-to-old-project.html. Well, I finally finished it the other week, and was waiting for sunny weather to take some pictures. The weather never seems to cooperate when I need to do a 'photo shoot'!
I made an envelope cushion cover out of some old drapes and hand stitched the crochet front to the front of the cushion. This was my first time sewing a cushion cover from scratch...I must say, it was super easy, and I was quite pleased with the results.
To finish off, I did a simple little shell stitch along the edging. On the back, I added a cute slip and chain stitch to create a frilly little delicate edging. What do you think?

Slow Going...
Hello Friends...
So sorry I've been silent for most of the month...it's been a busy time and I've been working on a few projects, and then starting new ones before others are completed. It happens to me all the time, where I get ideas for another project and I just want to try it out so bad, that I abandon what I'd been working on. Ever happen to you? Anyway, here's one endeavour that is completed...have a look:

This is a cute little neck scarf I made with a really small amount of leftover yarn. I made a small chain hole at one end of the scarf to draw the other end through. It fits just nice and cosy around the neck.
Experimenting with t-shirt yarn
Hello friends...
During our big purge before we moved, I had some (ok, many) t-shirts that were just a little too over worn to donate to charity. So, instead of just tossing them away (I hate to throw things out), I decided to hold onto them and cut them into yarn. First, we made bracelets...the kids had a great time making those.
Then, I tried my hand on this bowl/basket....super easy to make! It turned out a little floppy, but sturdy enough for stashing little bits of whatever....what do you think?
Terry Fox Walk
Hello Friends,
Yesterday we did the Terry Fox Run (Walk) with the school. Such a great fundraiser for cancer research! The kids were pumped and the day was just gorgeous, considering they'd been calling for rain all week. We walked down the Humber River, near the school and up through the neighbourhood, back to the school. We were fortunate enough to see some salmon swimming up the river...needless to say, this caused much excitement! All in all it took us just over an hour...a good walk; and the kids could really hoof it!

The Cooler Weather is Upon Us...
Hello Friends...
With school starting last week, we seem to be getting back into the swing of things. The kids are adjusting to the new school well...making new friends and both are happy with their new teachers. My little one, has a different schedule this year (her final year of Kindergarten)...she attends every day in the afternoon. Last year, her school district had a full day, 2 days per week schedule. Pros and cons to both, but we are enjoying the new change of pace.
With the cooler weather last week (it has since warmed up again), I was inspired to whip up a simple cold weather scarf...especially perfect for fall. You may remember awhile back I'd found some great organic cotton yarn on clearance...always an exciting experience. Anyway, I went back and picked up 3 more balls in a different colour. The result is a simple, long hdc stitch scarf with tassels on each end. The thing I love most about this scarf is its vibrant happy colour variations:
